Overview

About industrial workwear and coveralls

UAE industrial sites combine heat, dust, sun exposure and heavy daily wear. Workwear needs to protect skin and clothing, survive industrial laundering, and stay bearable in summer temperatures. For most general-purpose roles that means a poly-cotton or cotton drill coverall or two-piece set in a breathable weight, often with reflective tape for visibility.

Many sites go further and require protective clothing such as flame-retardant (FR), arc-flash or anti-static garments. These must be certified to the standard the site specifies, for example EN ISO 11612 for heat and flame or EN 1149 for electrostatic properties. Protective performance comes from certified fabric and garment construction, not from a description, so FR workwear is only supplied as certified products with test documentation, and you should check certificates against your HSE requirements before ordering.

Practical details make a large difference on site: double-ended zips, ventilation panels under the arms or across the back, knee-pad pockets, tool and phone pockets, and reinforced seams. Branding is typically embroidered or applied as a badge so it survives harsh washing. Share your site's PPE specification and we will confirm what can be supplied.

Fabrics

Fabric options

Common fabric options and where each works best. Compare fibres and weights in the fabric guide.

  • Poly-cotton drill

    Typically 65% polyester / 35% cotton

    190–245 GSM

Best for: General-purpose coveralls and work sets

Hard-wearing and colour-stable under industrial washing; lighter weights are more comfortable in summer.

  • Cotton drill

    100% cotton

    200–280 GSM

Best for: Workshops and roles near heat or sparks (non-certified)

More breathable and less likely to melt than polyester, but it is not flame-retardant unless certified FR-treated.

  • Inherent or treated FR fabric

FR-treated cotton or inherently flame-resistant fibre blends

    200–330 GSM

Best for: Sites requiring certified flame-retardant clothing

Supplied only as certified garments. Request certificates and care instructions, as incorrect washing can affect treated fabrics.

  • Lightweight ripstop

    Poly-cotton ripstop

    160–210 GSM

Best for: Outdoor crews needing a cooler, tear-resistant option

Lighter than standard drill; check durability against your laundering cycle.

Customisation

Branding options

Each method suits different fabrics, logos and quantities. We confirm the method, size and position with a mock-up before production.

Common branding locations

  • Left chest
  • Right chest (name or role)
  • Full back
  • Upper sleeve
  • Helmet-height back yoke

Availability of each method for your garment and quantity is confirmed on your quotation.

  • Logo embroidery

Durable under industrial washing. On FR garments, thread and backing must be compatible so certification is not affected; confirm with the garment's documentation.

  • Screen printing

Suits large back text such as company names on non-FR coveralls in larger runs.

  • DTF printing

For non-FR garments only, unless the transfer is confirmed compatible with the certified garment.

  • Custom labels

Sewn-on name tapes, badges and employee ID labels.

Fabric care

Fabric and care information

Care that keeps colour, shape and branding looking right through repeated washing.

Woven twill, drill and shirting

  • Follow the label for wash temperature; workwear may allow higher temperatures
  • Fasten zips and buttons before washing
  • Iron while slightly damp for a crisp finish

Poly-cotton blends

  • Usually tolerate 40 °C washing and frequent laundering
  • Medium iron; blends crease less than pure cotton
  • Check the label before commercial or industrial laundering

Branded areas

  • Turn garments inside out to protect prints and embroidery
  • Never iron directly over printed or transfer areas
  • Avoid harsh stain removers on branding

General guidance only. Always follow the care label on the supplied garment.

Buying advice

Buying tips

  1. 01

Start from the site PPE specification

Main contractors and clients often specify colour, reflective tape layout and protective standards. Share the document at enquiry stage so the quote matches what will be accepted on site.

  2. 02

    Verify certificates for protective garments

For FR, anti-static or high-visibility requirements, ask for the certificate covering the specific garment and fabric, and check it lists the standard and class your site needs.

  3. 03

    Balance weight against heat

Heavier drill lasts longer but is hotter. Ventilation features and lighter fabrics can improve comfort for outdoor crews; see breathable fabrics for outdoor workers.

  4. 04

    Plan issue quantities per worker

Workers usually need at least two or three sets to rotate through washing. Budget for this from the start rather than reordering in a hurry.

FAQ

Industrial Workwear and Coveralls: frequently asked questions

Do you supply flame-retardant coveralls?

FR protection only comes from a certified garment, so it should never be substituted with an uncertified one. Tell us the standard your site requires and we will confirm whether a suitable certified garment can be quoted, with its documentation.

Is a cotton coverall the same as a flame-retardant one?

No. Cotton is less likely to melt than polyester, but untreated cotton is not flame-retardant. Only certified FR garments provide tested protection.

Which coverall colours are common in the UAE?

Navy, royal blue, orange and khaki are widely used, often with reflective tape. Many sites set colours by role or contractor, so follow your site specification.

Can each coverall carry the worker's name?

Yes, names or ID numbers are often added with embroidery or sewn-on tapes. Cost and timing are confirmed in your quotation.

How long does an industrial workwear order take?

It depends on the garment, whether certified products are needed, quantity and branding. Lead time is confirmed in your quotation.
