Overview

About corporate shirts

A well-fitted woven shirt is the base of most formal uniforms in the UAE, from bank branches and government-facing service centres to hotel front offices and corporate reception. Unlike a knit polo, a woven shirt keeps a crisp line throughout the day, pairs with a tie, scarf or blazer, and signals a more formal brand.

Fabric choice is a balance between comfort and care. 100% cotton poplin breathes well but creases and needs ironing. Poly-cotton blends are the usual choice for uniforms because they resist wrinkles and survive frequent washing. Stretch blends with a small percentage of elastane add comfort for roles involving movement. Easy-care or non-iron finishes can be specified to reduce pressing time.

Fit matters more with shirts than with any other uniform top, because collar size, sleeve length and chest fit are all visible. Plan for men's and women's patterns, short- and long-sleeve options for different roles, and a sizing session or sample set before placing the main order. Our size guide explains how to measure.

Fabrics

Fabric options

Common fabric options and where each works best. Compare fibres and weights in the fabric guide.

  • Cotton poplin

    100% cotton

    100–130 GSM

Best for: Formal offices and executive roles

Smooth and breathable; creases easily and generally needs ironing unless treated with an easy-care finish.

  • Poly-cotton poplin or twill

    Typically 65% polyester / 35% cotton

    105–140 GSM

Best for: Daily uniforms with frequent washing

Wrinkle-resistant and colour-stable; slightly less breathable than pure cotton.

  • Stretch blend

Cotton or poly-cotton with 2–5% elastane

    110–140 GSM

Best for: Hospitality and retail staff who move all day

Comfortable fit with good recovery; avoid high-heat drying to protect the elastane.

  • Oxford

    100% cotton or cotton-rich blend

    130–160 GSM

Best for: Smart-casual corporate and creative teams

Textured, durable weave with a less formal look; heavier, so warmer outdoors.

Customisation

Branding options

Each method suits different fabrics, logos and quantities. We confirm the method, size and position with a mock-up before production.

Common branding locations

  • Left chest
  • Chest pocket
  • Collar point or collar band
  • Cuff
  • Sleeve
  • Back yoke (casual styles)

Availability of each method for your garment and quantity is confirmed on your quotation.

  • Logo embroidery

The standard choice for shirts: small chest, pocket or cuff logos. Keep stitch density moderate on lightweight poplin.

  • Custom labels

Woven neck or care labels for a branded finish, often used on hotel and airline-style programmes.

  • Private label uniforms

For organisations wanting their own branded shirt range, including labels and packaging, subject to quantity.

  • DTF printing

Rarely used on formal shirts; can suit small logos on casual styles. Embroidery is usually preferred.

Fabric care

Fabric and care information

Care that keeps colour, shape and branding looking right through repeated washing.

Woven twill, drill and shirting

  • Follow the label for wash temperature; workwear may allow higher temperatures
  • Fasten zips and buttons before washing
  • Iron while slightly damp for a crisp finish

Poly-cotton blends

  • Usually tolerate 40 °C washing and frequent laundering
  • Medium iron; blends crease less than pure cotton
  • Check the label before commercial or industrial laundering

Branded areas

  • Turn garments inside out to protect prints and embroidery
  • Never iron directly over printed or transfer areas
  • Avoid harsh stain removers on branding

General guidance only. Always follow the care label on the supplied garment.

Buying advice

Buying tips

  1. 01

Size by collar and chest, not just S–XL

Formal shirts are often sized by collar measurement. Run a fitting session or collect measurements, and plan for different sleeve lengths if staff vary widely in height.

  2. 02

    Ask about non-iron performance

Easy-care finishes reduce pressing but do not remove it entirely, and performance can drop after many washes. Ask for care instructions and test a sample through your normal laundry routine.

  3. 03

    Check opacity in light colours

White and pale blue shirts in lightweight poplin can be see-through. Request a sample and check it under your workplace lighting.

  4. 04

Coordinate with the rest of the uniform

If the shirt is worn with a tie, scarf, waistcoat or blazer, confirm colours and collar style together so the outfit works as a set.

FAQ

Corporate Shirts: frequently asked questions

Can corporate shirts be made in our brand colour?

Many fabrics come in a stock colour range. Custom-dyed fabric to match a specific shade is usually only possible at larger quantities; options are confirmed in your quotation.

Do you supply matching blouses for female staff?

Women's blouse patterns with different collar and fit options can be specified alongside men's shirts. Availability for your chosen fabric is confirmed at quotation.

Is embroidery or printing better on formal shirts?

Embroidery is the usual choice because it looks neat and lasts through repeated washing. Printing is generally reserved for casual shirt styles.

Which shirt fabric is most practical for UAE offices?

Poly-cotton is the common choice for daily uniforms because it resists creasing and washes well. Staff who work outdoors may prefer lighter cotton or a breathable stretch blend. See the fabric guide.
