Overview

About custom hoodies

Hoodies may seem out of place in a hot climate, but in the UAE they are worn widely: in heavily air-conditioned offices, warehouses, cold rooms and data centres, during the cooler months from November to March, on night shifts, and as school, university and team merchandise. They also make popular staff gifts and event kit.

Weight is the main decision. Lightweight 240–280 GSM French terry or fleece is comfortable for indoor air-conditioning and mild evenings. Mid-weight 280–340 GSM suits most staff and merchandise. Heavyweight 350 GSM and above feels premium but is too warm for much of the UAE year, so it is mostly chosen for retail-quality merchandise.

Hoodies take branding well. Embroidery gives a long-lasting chest logo, screen printing and DTF handle large back designs, and sleeve or hood prints add detail. For school or team programmes, check whether names, year groups or individual numbers are needed so the method can be planned before quoting.

Fabrics

Fabric options

Common fabric options and where each works best. Compare fibres and weights in the fabric guide.

  • Brushed-back fleece

    Typically 80% cotton / 20% polyester or 50/50

    260–340 GSM

Best for: Staff hoodies and everyday merchandise

Soft inner surface and good warmth for air-conditioned spaces; blends reduce shrinkage compared with pure cotton.

  • French terry (loopback)

    100% cotton or cotton-rich blend

    240–320 GSM

Best for: Lighter hoodies for UAE indoor use and mild months

Unbrushed loops on the inside breathe better than fleece and feel less heavy.

  • Heavyweight cotton fleece

    100% cotton or 80/20 cotton-polyester

    350–420 GSM

    Best for: Premium retail-style merchandise

Structured and durable, but warm for most of the UAE year.

  • Performance polyester fleece

    100% polyester or polyester-elastane

    220–300 GSM

Best for: Sports teams and active outdoor use

Quick-drying and colour-fast; suits sublimation on light colours.

Fabric care

Fabric and care information

Care that keeps colour, shape and branding looking right through repeated washing.

Poly-cotton blends

  • Usually tolerate 40 °C washing and frequent laundering
  • Medium iron; blends crease less than pure cotton
  • Check the label before commercial or industrial laundering

Polyester and performance knits

  • Wash cool (around 30 °C) and line dry
  • Skip fabric softener, which can reduce moisture-wicking
  • Low iron only; high heat can mark synthetic fibres

Branded areas

  • Turn garments inside out to protect prints and embroidery
  • Never iron directly over printed or transfer areas
  • Avoid harsh stain removers on branding

General guidance only. Always follow the care label on the supplied garment.

Buying advice

Buying tips

  1. 01

Pick the weight for UAE use, not catalogue photos

Heavy hoodies look impressive but are worn less in a warm climate. For staff use, a mid-weight or French terry often gets more wear.

  2. 02

Size up carefully for relaxed fits

Oversized and relaxed cuts vary widely. Check the garment measurement chart and offer a sample set before collecting sizes.

  3. 03

Avoid printing across zips and seams

On zip-through hoodies, keep chest logos to one side and use the back for large prints. Prints over seams and pockets crack and distort.

  4. 04

    Plan for seasonal demand

School and corporate hoodie orders tend to cluster before the cooler months. Starting early leaves time for samples and artwork approval.

FAQ

Custom Hoodies: frequently asked questions

Are hoodies practical for UAE staff uniforms?

Yes, for staff in air-conditioned offices, warehouses, cold storage and on winter night shifts. For outdoor daytime work in summer they are not practical.

What hoodie weight should we choose?

For most UAE uses, 260–340 GSM is a practical range. Lighter French terry suits indoor layering; heavier fleece suits premium merchandise.

Can we put different names on each hoodie?

Personalised names are usually applied by DTF or vinyl. Whether it is feasible for your quantity and timeline is confirmed in your quotation.

Will the print crack after washing?

Correctly cured prints are durable when washed inside out at moderate temperatures. Very heavy ink coverage on stretchy fabric is more likely to crack; the method is chosen to suit your artwork.
